Overview

The Perinatal Mental Health Team based in Bedfordshire and Luton provides specialist care for birthing people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. We are looking for an experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to deliver assessment and evidence‑based interventions, support group delivery and contribute to service development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy to individual patients (and some home visits).
  • Plan, run and evaluate psychologically‑based group interventions.
  • Conduct specialist risk assessments and give risk‑management advice.
  • Supervise and support trainee, assistant and other qualified psychologists and therapists.
  • Offer specialist consultation to multidisciplinary teams and agencies, contributing to care‑plan development and audit.
  • Collaborate closely with OCEAN, mother & baby units, community mental health teams, CAMHS, and local talking‑therapy services.
  • Contribute to service development initiatives, quality improvement and audit activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a secondary mental‑health setting.
  • Experience delivering trauma‑focused therapy and understanding of perinatal trauma.
  • Ability to work proactively, collaboratively and compassionately with multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to use own car for travel between Bedfordshire and Luton.
