East London NHS Foundation Trust currently provides mental health and learning disability services in Luton and Bedfordshire. The Bedfordshire Mental Health service has an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Manager to lead and manage Jade Ward PICU – Working Age Service in Luton.

About Jade Ward PICU

Jade Ward PICU (psychiatric intensive care unit) is an all-male service with nine beds for patients from across Bedfordshire and Luton. It offers short, rapid intervention to help people regain control and progress in their recovery, whether returning to a general adult mental health setting or their own home.

Role Responsibilities

  1. Provide effective clinical leadership to ensure nursing staff receive supervision and support aligned with professional development plans.
  2. Establish and maintain team systems and processes for effective ward operation.
  3. Ensure compliance with Key Performance Indicators.
  4. Lead quality care and service improvement initiatives.
  5. Build strong links with patients and carers, involving them in care delivery.

Candidate Requirements

  • Significant initiative, mature judgment, and a calm, friendly manner.
  • Ability to work independently, maintaining confidentiality and managing competing demands.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Passion for compassionate care, organized, and able to support vulnerable patients and carers.
  • Knowledge of physical and mental health needs of the patient group.
  • Proven leadership in quality care and service development.
  • Strong leadership skills and a good role model.
  • Driver\’s license or access to a car (unless disabled as per DDA 2010).
