About the Role
Nelson & Colne College, part of East Lancashire Learning Group, has a national reputation for educational success and offers a broad range of A Levels, vocational courses, apprenticeships and higher education provision. We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Politics teacher to deliver outstanding teaching and learning within a supportive, collaborative, and forward‑thinking department. The role is primarily based at Nelson but may require travel across sites. The successful candidate may begin as a 0.5 FTE with the possibility of progressing to full time (1FTE) if they can teach a second subject such as Business, Economics or Geography.
What You Will Be Doing
- Plan, deliver and assess high‑quality teaching and learning across A Level Politics.
- The ability to teach a second subject would be advantageous.
- Provide effective academic and pastoral support to learners.
- Support learners to make exceptional progress using effective assessment and targeted intervention.
- Develop learners’ wider knowledge, skills and behaviours to support progression to higher education or employment.
- Enrich learners’ cultural capital through extra‑curricular activities, educational visits, guest speakers and other enrichment opportunities.

- A passionate, knowledgeable and committed Politics specialist with the ability to deliver outstanding teaching, learning and support.
- Experience delivering A Level programmes, particularly within Politics.
