A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our dedicated Engineering team, on a part‑time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be primarily based at Nelson & Colne College but may be required to travel across sites.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Maintain a safe working environment for students and staff at all times within the designated areas of the Technology section.
  • Carry out stores counter duties during all lessons in the workshop, including:
  • Issuing equipment, materials and other consumables to students
  • Cutting and preparing materials for issue to students
  • Servicing/replacing, cutting and hand tools to a set schedule
  • Calibrating gauges and measuring equipment to a set schedule
  • Comply with Health & Safety and Risk Management procedures, including completing regular checks and servicing of tools and equipment.
  • What We Are Looking For:

    • 4 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English at Grade C or above
    • Level 3 qualification or equivalent in an Engineering subject
    • Demonstrate a mechanical aptitude and be receptive to training opportunities to promote self‑improvement and technical skill base
    • Ability to follow work schedules unsupervised
    • Ability to organise stores
    • Knowledge of safe working in an engineering environment
    • Experience of servicing machine or hand tools
