The Exciting Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Teacher of A Level Geography with the interest and potential to teach A Level Geology to join our high performing team at Nelson and Colne College. Are you passionate about Earth systems, landscapes, tectonics, sustainability, and the dynamic processes shaping our planet? You will primarily teach A Level Geography with opportunities to teach A level Geology if required. Our A Level provision consistently achieves exceptional outcomes, with strong progress measures and high levels of student satisfaction. This role is ideal for an experienced practitioner seeking a new challenge, or a newly qualified teacher eager to develop within an Outstanding organisation. The successful candidate will be primarily based at Nelson campus but may be required to travel across sites. This post could suit an experienced practitioner looking for their next challenge, a newly qualified teacher looking to make their mark within an Outstanding organisation, or a talented aspiring trainee teacher looking for support with their teaching qualification.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Delivering high quality teaching, learning, and assessment across A Level Geography and potentially A Level Geology.
  • Developing engaging schemes of work, lesson plans, and resources that inspire curiosity and academic excellence.
  • Supporting learners to achieve outstanding outcomes, progress to university, and develop strong analytical and fieldwork skills.
  • Contributing to curriculum development, enrichment activities, and fieldwork planning.
  • Building strong relationships with learners to support retention, attendance, and achievement.
  • Playing an active role in the wider curriculum team and contributing to continuous improvement.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience teaching Geography and/or Geology within a Sixth Form, FE, or Secondary setting.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • A degree in Geography, Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring young people.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to high quality teaching.
  • A well organised, reflective, and student centred approach.
