Job overview
We have a vacancy for two Junior Clinical/Education Fellows to commence August 2025 until 4th August 2026.
- The posts will be 50% educational and 50% clinical service provision in Medicine for Older People, with a 6-month on/off rota between clinical and educational duties.
- Funding will be available for the successful applicants to complete a medical educational qualification (if undertaking the full 12 months), determined by the Trust.
Main duties of the job
During clinical time, you will:
- Care for patients on wards, including OPRA, OP Units, Acute Medicine for Older People wards, and Community Hospital wards, focusing on managing unwell medical patients for safe discharges.
- Attend ward rounds, MDT meetings, clerking of new admissions, undertake routine procedures, follow up management, process investigations and referrals, be part of the in-hours cardiac arrest team, and contribute to quality improvement.
During educational time, you will:
- Contribute to clinical placements through ward-based supervision, bedside teaching, lectures, tutorials, CBL/PBL sessions, and simulations.

General Information
The role is split 50/50 between clinical and educational activities, including leave entitlements. You will be entitled to 27 days annual leave, with bank holidays added on. Study leave is supported for a professional qualification in Medical Education, with a budget offset if undertaking a PGCert. You should reserve study days accordingly.

- GMC registration and Licence to Practise
- Train the trainer / Teaching, Learning and Assessment training
- ATLS, ALS, or APLS qualification
- Postgraduate qualification in medical education or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
- UK-based Medical degree or at least 12 months NHS experience
- Experience in medical education and Medicine for Older People
- Good communication skills, motivation, awareness of medical education policies, and publication experience in medical education journals
