Job overview

12 month secondment opportunity (maternity cover) to operationally lead and deliver the Voice service to outpatients (adults and children) with clinical voice disorders.

This is an ideal opportunity to develop a leadership portfolio and an experienced band 5 with relevant skills looking to grow their experience, are welcome to apply. Experience of working with upper airways conditions (e.g., chronic cough, laryngeal hypersensitivity, inducible laryngeal obstruction and Long COVID) is desirable alongside underpinning knowledge of neurology.

The well-established model of an \’ENT SLT\’ service at ELHT means that the successful applicant will be supervised and supported by the H&N and FEES Clinical team Leads and there may be the opportunity for the successful applicant to clinically contribute to these pathways.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide clinical services to adults and children with acquired voice, communication and/or swallowing problems.
  • To use evidence-based, specialist skills to undertake expert assessments and deliver appropriate interventions to and adult clinical caseload.
  • To provide input into teaching, training and supporting junior staff (B5 rotation).
  • To support the \’ENT SLT\’ team and engage and continue to be an active member of the wider ENT multi-disciplinary team

The service is well equipped and is supported by a team of administrators, SLT Assistants and Therapy Assistant Practitioners. Regular team meetings, an annual SLT Showcase of best practice and SLT, Stroke and Neuro Improvement Showcase.Continual improvement is embedded in our daily work and service improvement initiatives.We are committed to continuing professional development and this is underpinned by supervision, regular line management and an annual appraisal system.

Qualifications

  • Profession specific Diploma/ Degree or equivalent
  • Registration with Health and Care Professions Council
  • Member of relevant professional body
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent postgraduate courses relevant to the clinical field
  • Involvement in Special Clinical Interest Group

Experience

  • Post graduate clinical experience
  • Experience of delivering training to colleagues in health and/ or other relevant agencies
  • Individual and group treatment skills
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Contribution to clinical education of junior staff/students/ assistants
  • Experience of contributing to quality improvement projects for safe, personal and effective care

Knowledge

  • Awareness of local and national NHS/Social Care agenda and its relevance to service area
