This role is an exciting opportunity to manage an East Lancashire Hospice charity shop, specialising in furniture, household goods and clothing. You will have a retail background and be able to demonstrate excellent, professional customer service and communication skills.

You will manage and develop the income and growth of the shop and work towards agreed budgets and key performance indicators. You will be confident in talking about Gift Aid and understand the importance of this within the charity sector.

Effectively leading a group of volunteers, you will manage, train and support individuals as appropriate to ensure they achieve the required targets. Working with the existing retail team and wider hospice organisation, you will understand and promote the East Lancashire Hospice brand and services offered.

East Lancashire Hospice is a registered charity, founded in 1984. We support and care for patients with a life limiting illness, their families and others close to them. We provide this in a number of ways; at the hospice and in people’s own homes across our community of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

With approximately 120 employees and over 250 volunteers, our people are our biggest asset whom we value tremendously. Our services to the local community would not be possible without our motivated and caring workforce who always strive to deliver excellence in all that they do. The hospice is a unique and special place, kindness and compassion are qualities that run throughout the hospice and our people truly believe in what we do.

Responsibilities

  • This role is full time (37.5 hours) and the salary is £25,409.
  • Based mainly in Accrington, you will manage a team of volunteers and work with the retail team and wider hospice organisation.
  • Manage and develop the income and growth of the shop, work towards budgets and KPIs.
  • Be confident in talking about Gift Aid and its importance within the charity sector.
  • Lead, train and support volunteers to help them achieve targets.
  • Collaborate with the Retail Operations Manager, Head of Retail and Director of Income Generation and Marketing for support and guidance.

Qualifications

  • Retail background with demonstrated excellent, professional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to talk confidently about Gift Aid and its role in charitable fundraising.
