Applications are invited to apply for a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine vacancy at the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust as part of a major expansion of Respiratory services.
This post is based at The Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother Hospital, Margate.
You will be joining a team of 7 Consultants, 1 Respiratory Nurse Consultant, 7 Nurse specialists (sleep, lung cancer, NIV), in-patient Respiratory practitioner team, fully equipped Respiratory Physiology department and staff and a dynamic, rapidly evolving department, reconfiguring to allow targeted sub-specialty work and 7-day respiratory service across the region. An increased administrative & secretarial team to support clinical staff with adequate offices with IT equipment.
Main duties of the job
The working pattern is divided into 3 blocks of clinical work (ward, post-take ward rounds, in-reach and clinic/procedures), although this is under discussion to adapt the service to the changing needs.
We have weekly Bronchoscopy, EBUS and Pleural list (including indwelling pleural drain insertion). The role will include covering the acute respiratory ward as well as the respiratory consultation or in-reach service. There will be opportunity to do general respiratory and lung cancer outpatient clinics. We are in the process in establishing subspecialty clinics. There will be opportunity to participate in the MDTs for lung cancer, ILD, TB, Vasculitis and Lung volume reduction. If able, you can take part in the Acute General Medicine On-call rota and will be encouraged.
