We are looking for Casual Theatre Technicians to join our team at BEAM, where you'll have the opportunity to work across our whole programme of events.
As a Casual Theatre Technician, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality productions at BEAM. You’ll work closely with the permanent technicians to support touring companies and our in-house programming team to provide technical support.
Key responsibilities:- To assist with the get-ins and get-outs, including loading and unloading of vehicles.
- To undertake lighting and sound tasks as necessary.
- To have at least a basic understanding of electrical safety in temporary electrical installations.
- To help build scenic elements of incoming shows and ensure current health and safety guidance is followed in discharging these duties.
- To operate lighting and sound or fulfil stage duties for shows.
- To promptly communicate any issues to the Deputy Technical Manager or Technical and Production Manager.
- Maintain and clean the backstage areas of the theatre when necessary.
- To help other departments with occasional manual labour.
No two days are the same: one week you might be running sound for a comedy tour, the next you could be helping bring our co-produced pantomime to life.
About You:The ideal person for the Casual Theatre Technician Role will have:
- Experience in Technical disciplines across a range of live events.
- Experience in specific or multiple show operation disciplines.
- Experience in technical work in a theatrical setting.
- Experience in maintaining technical theatre equipment and stage engineering.
- Ability to read lighting, sound and stage design plans.
- Up-to-date knowledge of Technical Theatre risk assessments and Health and Safety issues.
