Grade 7 - 8 £38,009 - £44,804 (inclusive of local weighting) plus £3,500 market forces supplement. Full Time, 37 hours per week, permanent. (part-time working and job share considered). Blended working available. Based in Hertford.

We are seeking an ambitious enforcement officer to join our team and contribute to our objectives of well-managed, sustainable growth and the preservation of everything our community values. Your work will have a direct impact on shaping our community and preserving its unique character for future generations.

This role is suitable for someone that already has experience working in planning enforcement and is interested in managing a mixed and varied portfolio of enforcement cases. If appointed at Enforcement Officer level, this career grade post provides the opportunity to progress to senior level, working on more complex cases.

The Role
  • Responsible for managing a varied workload of Enforcement cases (including more complex cases depending on experience).
  • At senior level, supervising and mentoring more junior staff.
  • Supporting the Enforcement Team Leader to drive forward service improvements.
  • Effective delivery of high-quality service outputs that meet policy and corporate objectives.
About you
  • Excellent working knowledge of relevant planning legislation and regulations relating to Development Management and Planning Enforcement.
  • Experience of managing a wide range of enforcement cases.
  • Experience of carefully and rigorously investigating planning control.
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively both with colleagues and a wide range of others, including representatives from legal firms, members of the public, legal/estates professionals, developers and landowners to achieve required outcomes.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with others to organise workloads and resolve problems.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to research case law and good practice.
