Location: The advertised location is the North Herts Council Head Office, but the role is expected to cover Baldock, Letchworth, Hitchin, Royston, East Herts, and the surrounding villages.
The role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Council's Shared Waste Service as a Commercial Waste Support Officer, supporting both East and North Hertfordshire District Councils. This role is central to the growth and delivery of our commercial waste and recycling services, helping us expand our customer base, improve service quality and generate income across the partnership.
We are looking for someone committed to excellent customer service, confident in building relationships with businesses, and motivated to support local environmental goals. Every day is varied, from providing quotations and service advice to commercial customers, to monitoring collection performance, resolving service issues and supporting marketing and promotional activity.
The experience you will bring:
- Have an interest in waste management, recycling and environmental services.
- Be proactive and confident in problem-solving, with the ability to interpret information accurately.
- Communicate effectively with businesses, contractors and internal teams.
- Work well both independently and as part of a busy, multi-functional service.
- Be comfortable promoting services, supporting customer engagement and helping to grow the commercial customer base.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel locally.
