The predicted salary is between 39235 - 44509 £ per year.

We are seeking applications for the role of Streetscene Lead. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of operatives, squad leaders and shift planners in the daily delivery of frontline services such as street cleansing, grounds maintenance, cemetery operations and seasonal activities such as the Care of Gardens service. The postholder will also oversee the work programme relating to Service Level Agreements for Housing and the Leisure Trust.

You will be reporting to the Greenspace & Streetscene Manager, and working to ensure successful delivery of a high standard of team performance & productivity. The ability to work using your own initiative, and to plan and prioritise workload, while ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety regulations, with adherence to all council policies & procedures is an essential criteria of this role. Budget responsibility along with ordering of materials will be required.

You will ideally have a horticultural or Neighbourhood services background, have proven experience of successfully leading, supporting and encouraging a frontline team, and experience of working with grounds maintenance plant and associated equipment, in accordance with safe systems at work. Experience of working with Cemeteries team and liaising with Cemetery administration staff would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will require excellent written and verbal communication skills, and will involve daily interaction with Councillors, employees, Council Officers and members of the public. A full driving licence is essential for this role.

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria:

  • Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
  • Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.
  • In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment.
  • Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR & OD Manager.
  • Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
