An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified social worker to join the East Dunbartonshire Health & Social Care Partnership’s Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service on a full-time permanent basis. The post is based within the Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre.

The Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services is a well-established, integrated and experienced team which is co-located within a Health and Care centre providing the full range of adult social work and primary health services. East Dunbartonshire Alcohol and Drugs Recovery Service provides a range of health and social care services to adults requiring treatment and support for alcohol and drug issues, providing a responsive, flexible and outcome focussed service to the residents of East Dunbartonshire.

The successful candidate will undertake required statutory duties regarding the protection support and welfare of all our service users and will undertake professional assessments to identify the needs and risks of service users and co-ordinate and deliver outcome focussed interventions and service provision in line with the legislative framework and national and local procedures. A working understanding of the relevant legislation to support vulnerable adults is required.

The successful candidate will support the Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service in its day-to-day operation and will work closely with health and social work colleagues within the team to promote integrated working and a holistic service and contribute to the meeting of all internal and external targets promoting the continuous improvement of service delivery and performance of the Alcohol and Drugs Recovery Service.

This is an exciting permanent opportunity for a candidate with a Social Work degree or equivalent professional Social Work qualification, offering a varied and diverse range of experience across all aspects of social work practice within our Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services within an established integrated team. The work mainly focuses on adults at risk, adults with alcohol related brain damage and joint work with social workers in other related services e.g., children and families, mental health and criminal justice etc.

Applicants will have experience of social work practice within statutory adult social work services, addiction services and an understanding of the relevant legislation. Applicants must hold a professional Social Work qualification and register with SSSC. Experience or qualifications in alcohol and drugs is desirable. You will need to hold a driving licence.

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria. Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council. Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. Successful candidates who withdraw their application after the check process has started will be invoiced for the cost of the check. In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR & OD Manager. Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary. The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
