Salary will be pro-rated for part-time and term-time hours. This position is temporary.
Working within a newly developing Virtual Service which will offer online and in-person support for a range of children and young people with additional support needs including care experienced or experience emotional based school avoidance (EBSA) learners, you will be working within a small team of operational education staff. You will be responsible for providing educational support in line with key strategic and local priorities, including supporting the development of the Virtual Service and health and wellbeing approaches across East Dunbartonshire.
Based in Southbank House, Kirkintilloch, as part of the education central team and working across all schools in EDC you will work with young people in community based and school-based settings with a particular emphasis on engaging young people who are likely to face the most barriers to their attainment and achievement. Previous experience around outreach work and involvement with projects is desirable.
Relationships will be key, and so you will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual. You will have a working knowledge of current national and local developments in working with young people with barriers to learning, as well as good relationship skills, communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
A driving licence is desirable for this post.
PVG/Disclosure Scotland
The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria. Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. Successful candidates who withdraw their application after the check process has started will be invoiced for the cost of the check. In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR & OD Manager. Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary. The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
