The predicted salary is between 23615 - 25674 £ per year.

Please note that salary will be pro-rated for part-time and term-time hours. This position is temporary. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to support children and young people within East Dunbartonshire schools. As a Pupil Support Assistant (PSA), you will provide support to children and young people with additional support needs. You may be asked to work within any of our schools in East Dunbartonshire and work with a range of pupils.

There are different hours and locations available and these will be discussed at interview. Maximum hours per week will be 27.5 hours. This is a temporary term time position from 13th August 2026 until 9th October 2026. The salary will be pro-rated for the hours worked and during term-time.

You will be responsible for the personal care needs of pupils and under the direction of the class/subject teacher, you will help pupils with specific learning activities and to follow instructions and organise their work.

As a Pupil Support Assistant Grade 4 you may be asked to:

  • Support pupils individually or in small groups directed by the class teacher
  • Support pupils personal care needs
  • Provide supervision for pupils e.g. in the playground, corridors, dining area, during PE or organised school trips
  • Contribute to support programmes with the school setting, recommended by other professional services.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment

You will have a pleasant tolerant manner and a proven capacity to establish positive relationships with children and young people. Experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs and an interest in their development is essential. A relevant qualification in childcare is desirable.

Please note that all positions are peripatetic so if required you may be moved to another EDC school.

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria. Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. Successful candidates who withdraw their application after the check process has started will be invoiced for the cost of the check. In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR & OD Manager. Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary. The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
