About the role

You will lead and co-ordinate the Seaton and Axminster StreetScene teams to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our public realm and open spaces, with health and safety at the heart of everything we do. Your remit involves everything from grounds maintenance and fly tipping to street/beach cleaning. You will be responsible for ensuring your teams are equipped to carry out their roles (through allocation of appropriate resources and training) whilst working to budget and deadlines. You will also play a critical role in building and maintaining positive relations with various community stakeholders and elected members as well as motivating your multi-skilled teams and supporting them through continual change.

About you

Organised, efficient and inspiring, you’ll have a desire to deliver a StreetScene Operations service to exceed expectations. You will be qualified to NVQ level 3 in either Management or a grounds maintenance related subject or have equivalent demonstrable experience. Experience of monitoring budgets, meeting deadlines, and leading teams are also essential together with excellent communication skills and IT literacy. In addition, grounds maintenance or cleansing experience would be an advantage. You must have the flexibility to occasionally work out of hours and participate in a weekend duty rota. You will also hold a current valid driving licence (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act) as travelling throughout the district in a Council vehicle is a requirement of the post.

As one of the most publicly visible services, operating seven days a week, StreetScene provides both challenge and a strong sense of purpose. It is a role where the contribution you make is highly valued by both the Council and the community.
