About the role
The Climate Change Manager will play a key role in leading the development and delivery of our ambitious Climate Change strategy and action plan. You will be responsible for managing a small team of climate change specialists and securing external funding and importantly, fostering strategic partnerships to ensure the success of our climate change ambitions. This role involves working with both internal teams and external partners to create effective and productive relationships.
About you
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in climate change work and carbon reduction strategies. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and deliver positive outcomes within the public and private sectors. You should possess a strong understanding of local government governance, funding mechanisms (including grant applications) and the political context.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, with a passion for making a tangible impact in the community. You will need to be a strategic thinker, able to adapt to changing priorities, and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including elected members, local businesses, and community groups.
You must be able to manage budgets and secure external funding for projects, whilst ensuring that all activities align with the Council’s policies and procedures.
Appointment is subject to satisfactory outcome of Basic Disclosure.
