We are looking to appoint a welcoming and organised Admin Assistant to become part of our team at East Dene Primary School. Our school is currently graded ‘Good’ status from Ofsted and is situated in the heart of an area of rich cultural diversity, near to the centre of Rotherham.

What we’re looking for:

  • Can act as the first point of contact for enquiries, in person, over the telephone and by email, ensuring all queries are handled efficiently and directed appropriately.
  • Can communicate effectively and professionally, respecting the needs of the diverse multi-cultural catchment of the school.
  • Can ensure the smooth and effective running of the school office and all administrative systems while being responsible for overseeing various administrative tasks and providing essential support and information to staff, parents, and visitors.
  • Assume responsibility for the operation of some office procedures, including but not limited to word processing, record keeping, reprographics, banking transactions, sorting and distribution of mail, and handling medical and reception duties, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Is confident managing a variety of administrative tasks, including record keeping, reception duties, and handling enquiries.
  • Has strong IT skills, including word processing, Excel and school systems.
  • Can support financial administration, including dinner money, trips, ordering and processing of orders and requisitions.
  • Comply with confidentiality and data protection processes, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.
  • Promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of children and report any concerns about the safety of a child to the DSL following school policy and practices.

Childcare (Disqualification) (Applicable to Primary aged Schools):

In accordance with the Childcare Act 2006 and the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulation 2009 the Governors are required to obtain an additional staff disqualification declaration for employees within settings providing care for early years childcare or later years childcare in nursery, primary or secondary school educational settings, or if when directly concerned with the management of such childcare related establishments. This declaration is to confirm that you are not disqualified ‘by association’ to anyone currently residing within your household who is disqualified under the Childcare (Disqualification) Regulation 2009.
