An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Council’s Planning Team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual, to carry out planning enforcement duties mainly relating to monitoring developments which have been granted planning permission, this will include site visits, inspections and investigating complaints from members of the public and Councillors.

In this role you will investigate and resolve breaches of planning control and unauthorised uses of land and buildings. You will monitor new developments and planning permissions to ensure compliance with conditions and obligations, reporting any breaches and instigating legal enforcement procedures.

You will report to the Enforcement Team Leader setting out issues, possible actions and outcomes through the writing of reports. You will also be required to attend Committee meetings, and present evidence at appeal hearings, public Inquiries and in Court proceedings, as and when required.

Educated to an A-Level standard or equivalent, you will have experience of regulatory processes and an understanding of planning legislation, legal proceedings and the role of the planning department. You will have experience of dealing with the public and will possess good communication, negotiation and persuasion skills. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
