Salary: £30,060 – £33,366 pro rata p.a. plus benefits package

Accountancy Assistant The Role:
In this role you will be a key member of the Finance Team delivering an effective and efficient
accountancy service to the Council and the Council s Trading Company, specifically providing financial administration support to the Accounts payable and Receivable ledgers.
We have two opportunities available for this role, one at 37 hours per week and one at 25 hours per week. Normal office working hours are Monday to Friday 8.45 AM to 5.00 PM and Friday 8.45 AM to 4.30 PM.
The grade for the 37 hours per week post ranges from £30,060 – £33,366 p.a.
The grade for the 25 hours per week post ranges from £20,310 – £22,544 p.a
Accountancy Assistant Key Responsibilities:
– Input of purchase invoices, matching purchase orders and paying suppliers
– Reconcile monthly supplier statements
– Follow up unauthorised invoices and outstanding purchase orders not matched
– Monitoring of incoming emails/post to the Finance Department, redirecting mail to
relevant person and dealing with any queries from suppliers
– Set up new supplier requests from budget holders
– Raise invoices for monthly subscriptions, periodic and adhoc requests
– Send reminders for outstanding invoice monthly
– Process payment vouchers and refund requests
– Collect direct debit payments
– Run daily / monthly payment reports and distribute to budget holders
– To work as a fully integrated member of the Finance Department, establishing a good
rapport and helping and supporting other team members wherever appropriate
– Be competent in using the payments system, running and reconciling end of day files
and processing the daily banking
Accountancy Assistant You:
– 4 GCSEs or equivalent (to include English and Mathematics) or able to demonstrate relevant working experience within an Accounts Payable environment dealing with supplier invoices
– Good numeracy and administrative skills
– Good communication skills (verbal and written)
– Computer literate with quick and accurate typing skills
– Ability to use own initiative and prioritise and manage own work
– Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to use
and/or create spreadsheets and word documents including mail merge
– Working knowledge of work practices and office procedures
– Experience of data input
– Good interpersonal skills to develop and maintain good working relationships
– Proactive and self motivated
– A sense of responsibility
