Starting in September the Project Officer will support the delivery of the SEUPB-funded Framing the Legacy of our Irish and Scottish Heritage (FLOURISH) project. Working in collaboration with Ulster University and other partners, the postholder will engage in project delivery across three strands:Community engagementLocal government capacity buildingYouth outreach and educationThe aim is to build positive relations around Irish and Ulster Scots language and culture, improve official responses to linguistic diversity, and inspire the next generation to cherish shared heritage.This is a fixed term post for 42 months due to external funding.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Support the coordination and delivery of community engagement workshops and events.
- Assist in the co-development and implementation of CPD training programmes for local government staff.
- Liaise with secondary schools and youth organisations to facilitate cultural education and awareness programmes.
- Work with the project team and partners to ensure smooth delivery of project activities.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to internal and external reporting.
- Provide logistical and administrative support across project strands.
- Promote project visibility through communications, social media, and event materials.
- Represent Turas at stakeholder meetings and events.
- To support the Turas project manager to develop existing services within the project.
- Any other duties as needed as part of the EBM staff team .
Essential qualifications and skills:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Irish/Celtic Studies; Ulster Scots/Scottish Studies, Education, Community Development, or a related discipline.
- Fluency in the Irish Language
- At least one year of experience in community, educational or cultural engagement.
- Knowledge of the Irish and Ulster Scots linguistic and cultural landscape.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel regionally (including evenings and weekends, as required).
- Experience in delivering or supporting CPD or cultural awareness training.
- Previous experience in cross-community contexts.
- Skills in digital engagement, including social media and event promotion.
- Background or interest in the indigenous culture of Ireland and Scotland.
