East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) Dental Center in Newport, RI seeks both full-time and part-time Dental Hygienists to provide services onsite at schools and for our Dental Center located at 19 Broadway in Newport, RI.

Make a difference in the lives of patients:
- Follow through with oral hygiene procedures in accordance with treatment plans prescribed by the attending dentist. Procedures may include prophylaxis, periodontal scaling, root planning, debridement, supra and subgingival scaling and curettage, application of fluoride treatments, administering local anesthesia, and application of protective sealants.
- Promote dental health by completing dental prophylaxis, providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies.
- Responsible for updating patient medical and dental history as well as working with the dentist to chart findings in patient record.
- Prepare treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Prepare patient for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping the patient.
- Ensure operating methods and materials are in compliance with OSHA’s blood borne pathogens and hazardous material standards.
- Educate patients by providing and/or demonstrating oral hygiene and plaque control techniques.
- Provide dental care to school aged children in collaboration with dentist and dental team, by using portable equipment to render these services onsite at schools throughout upper and lower East Bay.
- Provide assistance to Program Coordinator, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program and licensed by the RI DOH as a Dental Hygienist and be additionally licensed in the application of local anesthesia.
- Familiarity with an electronic medical record and current Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) offered by any accredited agency.
