Overview

Peripatetic Early Learning & Childcare Support Assistant role at East Ayrshire Council. Assist with a range of supports that focus on providing nurturing care and promoting the learning and development of all children within the Early Childhood Centre. The needs and unique circumstances of each child will shape the response and approach to this work. All tasks are child-centred, promote independence and creativity, and seek to support the promotion, delivery and integration of the Council\’s key objectives related to early learning and child care.

There is a requirement to be flexible in Early Childhood Centre location within East Ayrshire to meet the needs of children. Commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement is expected for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Position Details

  • Location: Crosshouse Campus, Crosshouse
  • Hours: 14 hours per week, to be worked at the direction of the line manager
  • Salary: Full-time salary £26,991 – £28,265 per annum; Part-time salary £10,796 – £11,306 per annum
  • Contract: Permanent part-time

Requirements

  • The duties involve Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
  • Successful applicants must become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member (or have a PVG Record Update) before any formal offer of employment can be made by East Ayrshire Council.
  • Please note PVG records are regularly updated; information disclosed on a PVG record or update will be discussed with the applicant prior to a formal offer.

Responsibilities

We follow national guidance on pre-employment checks, namely \”Safer Recruitment Through Better Recruitment\”. During the application process you should provide details of a minimum of two appropriate and relevant references, one of which should be from your current or most recent employer. The reference from your current or most recent employer should be from an appropriate senior manager and not from a peer at the same level.

The Individual

This is a permanent part-time post based within the Peripatetic Early Years Service at Crosshouse Campus, Crosshouse. The hours of work are 14 hours per week to be worked at the direction of the line manager.
