Contribute as part of a team to provide a quality early learning and childcare service for children aged 0-8 years and their families. Work in accordance with the principles of the national care standards for early education and childcare, and abide by the Code of Practice for Social Service Workers.

The duties of the post involve regulated work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful applicants will be required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member or have an existing membership, with a PVG Scheme Record Update, before a formal offer of employment is made by East Ayrshire Council. PVG records are regularly updated, and any relevant disclosures will be discussed with the applicant prior to employment.

We follow national guidance regarding pre-employment checks, namely Safer Recruitment Through Better Recruitment. During the application process, you should provide details of at least two appropriate and relevant references, including one from your current or most recent employer. The reference from your current or most recent employer must be from an appropriate senior manager and not from a peer at the same level.

This is a temporary, full-time, term-time position based within Cairns Early Childhood Centre, Kilmarnock, until 22 June 2026. The hours are 35 per week, scheduled at the line manager's discretion. The full-time salary ranges from £30,176 to £32,287 per annum; the actual salary for the term-time position is between £25,881 and £27,692 per annum.
