Overview

We are recruiting for a Senior Rotational Pharmacy Technician who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. This role could be ideal for newly qualified accuracy checking technicians who want to work in a busy and dynamic hospital pharmacy. Applicants with a retail pharmacy background are welcome to apply as on the job training will be provided for all aspects of the role. Any new qualified technicians without an Accuracy Checking qualification or NVQ3 will be considered and a Band 4 to Band 5 development plan will be offered.

Location

Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Pharmacy, Northwood, part of East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust (ENHT).

Responsibilities

  • Dispensing and checking of in-patient prescriptions and systemic anti-cancer treatment.
  • Provide routine technical pharmacy support to support a high quality, patient-oriented service.
  • Participate in purchasing of drugs and drug distribution activities.
  • Run the Chemotherapy desk and dispatch chemotherapy orders to wards and day units in a timely manner.
  • Stock control activities including expiry date checks, stock counting and replenishing the emergency cupboard, fulfilling to-follows, expiry checks and replenishing emergency boxes as required.
  • General dispensing, drug distribution, chemotherapy desk duties, patient counselling and associated pharmaceutical duties within Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Pharmacy.

Development and Qualifications

  • Applications welcome from those with a retail pharmacy background; on-the-job training provided for all aspects of the role.
  • Any new qualified technicians without an Accuracy Checking qualification or NVQ3 will be considered and a Band 4 to Band 5 developmental plan offered.

Salary and Benefits

  • High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment and maximum payment per annum pro rata (figures shown below vary by year):
  • Minimum £4,552 to £4,714 (depending on terms) and maximum £5,735 to £5,941 per annum pro rata.
