Nurse Team Leader – Acute Medical Services. NHS AfC: Band 6. Contract: Permanent. Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Full time or part time (shift patterns to cover 24/7 period, weekdays, nights, weekends and bank holidays). Site: The Lister Hospital, Stevenage. Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum – pro rata. We are recruiting for Nurse Team Leader who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals with relevant knowledge and/or experience in Acute or Emergency Care to join the newly designed Acute Medical Services Team within the UEC.
Acute Medical Services Assessment and Acute Medical Services SDEC teams will work collaboratively to stream and triage patients through the Acute medical services departments. As a Nurse Team Leader, this role will be essentially clinical, managing flow, triage and clinical assessment of medical patients from GP services, the emergency department and SDEC. The post will require rotation onto night duties, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
The Nurse Team Leader is a vital role within the multi-disciplinary team. Based in the Acute Medical Services Assessment and Acute Medical Services SDEC teams, they provide expert and compassionate leadership in delivering high-quality, safe patient-centred care and support a culture of continuous learning.
Responsibilities include ensuring patient care meets high standards, providing advice and support to staff, developing, monitoring and auditing clinical standards, and ensuring care is aligned with local and national policies, procedures and guidelines. You will work with key clinical colleagues to optimise capacity and resources, including timely admissions and discharges.

Qualifications/Training
- Registered nurse on part 1 or part 12 of the NMC register
- Evidence of professional development and commitment to lifelong learning
- Ability to produce personal professional portfolio
- ATLS, ALS, ILS and ATNC
Previous Experience
- Demonstrable experience within a busy urgent and emergency care environment
- Demonstrable experience as a registered nurse at Band 5
- Evidence of effective leadership
- Evidence of excellent and motivational teaching skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers, senior leaders and colleagues
- Ability to work to deadlines in a pressurised environment
- Ability to use sound judgement and escalate issues appropriately
