A major player in the offshore renewable energy industry is seeking an experienced Offshore Substation HV Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning of high-voltage systems on a large-scale offshore wind project in the North Sea.

Terms:

  • Contract: 6-month initial term with extensions expected
  • Location: Offshore (North East England mobilisation)
  • Rate: £500-£600 per day (Outside IR35)
  • Start: Immediate / November start preferred

Role:

The HV Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for carrying out and witnessing HV commissioning activities on offshore substations. You will work closely with the Lead Commissioning Engineer and OEM representatives to execute test procedures, ensure compliance with design and safety requirements, and support energisation activities offshore.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute HV commissioning and testing on 66kV-400kV equipment
  • Support FAT, SAT, and energisation processes
  • Ensure compliance with site safety and quality procedures
  • Prepare test reports, documentation, and commissioning records
  • Liaise with Lead Engineer and project stakeholders on daily progress

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in HV commissioning within substations or offshore wind
  • Solid knowledge of HV equipment such as GIS, transformers, and protection systems
  • Competent understanding of electrical safety procedures and UK regulations
  • Offshore and electrical certifications, including:
  • GWO BST Sea Survival
  • BOSIET / FOET
  • HV Authorisation (AP or SAP level preferred)
  • CompEx (advantageous)
