Esarthstream Global is working with an international renewables EPC that is seeking an experienced Grid Connections Engineer / Manager to take ownership of HV and grid connection activities across multiple projects. This is a hands-on role suited to a technical, self-sufficient professional who is confident managing contractors and ensuring delivery against programme, cost, and quality expectations. You will work closely with internal project teams, ICPs, DNOs, suppliers, and clients, playing a critical role in the successful delivery of grid connection works nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage grid connection activities during the construction phase, ensuring time, cost, and quality targets are met.
- Lead and control Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), holding contractors accountable for delivery and performance.
- Lead technical assurance of all ICP deliverables, reviewing and approving HV/LV designs, SLDs, and ensuring compliance with ENA, DNO/IDNO, G99/G100, BS, and client standards.
- Support responses to RFQs for HV and grid connection works, including sourcing quotations from ICPs and HV equipment suppliers.
- Review and negotiate contracts with ICP contractors.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop project budgets and client proposals.
- Drive continuous improvement and optimisation of grid connection processes.
Skills and experience
- Academic background in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience as a Grid Connections Engineer / Manager, or similar role, gained within an ICP, DNO, National Grid, or Solar EPC environment.
- Strong project management skills with the confidence to challenge contractors and enforce commitments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Highly organised with strong time management and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted internal and external relationships.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the UK, full UK driving licence is advantageous.
This role requires an experienced professional who can operate autonomously, manage multiple site teams and project managers at once, while representing the business confidently with contractors and stakeholders.
