We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join a leading general contractor delivering a major data centre project in London. The successful candidate will oversee electrical installation works on-site, ensuring delivery is safe, compliant, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards expected in mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all on-site electrical works across the data centre project
- Manage subcontractors, ensuring performance aligns with programme, quality, and safety expectations
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications, and schematics
- Ensure all works comply with UK regulations, industry standards, and project-specific requirements
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and progress reporting
- Support project planning, including short-term lookaheads and resource allocation
- Liaise with internal teams (construction, QA/QC, commissioning) and external stakeholders
- Ensure proper implementation of permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work
- Oversee installation of critical systems such as:
- LV/MV distribution
- UPS systems
- Generators
- Cable containment and routing
- Earthing and bonding systems
Health & Safety
- Enforce strict adherence to HSE policies and procedures
- Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and site inductions
- Ensure all electrical activities are carried out in accordance with risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
- Promote a strong safety culture across the project team
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as an Electrical Supervisor on large-scale construction projects (data centre experience highly desirable)
- Strong understanding of electrical systems within mission-critical environments
- Experience working for a general contractor or major subcontractor
- Excellent knowledge of UK electrical standards and regulations (e.g., BS 7671)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities
Qualifications
- Relevant electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds)
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification
- ECS/CSCS card (Supervisor level or above)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (preferred)
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience on Tier III or Tier IV data centre projects
- Familiarity with commissioning processes and integrated systems testing
- Experience working in live or high-risk environments
