Description: Mobilisation on 1/08/2026 in Hull, UK. Contract start date 1 week prior to mob date, with client access confirmed (27/07/2026).
PPE: provided by the Resource Coordination & Project Teams, Consultant should take with them client branded PPE if provided in the last years.
Travel: mobilisation travel expenses will be covered by the Project, subject to pre-approval from the OIM Manager. The client will cover mileage for personal car use to travel for mob/demob. Parking at the airport will be covered and organised by the construction team. Information of recommended hotel will be shared by Lead Inspector.
Responsibilities:
- Acting as clients representative for the inspection and quality assurance of jointing, termination and testing (T&T) of cables at site.
- Understand client quality technical requirements (TRs) and product relevant IEC standards, and ensure that supplier comply with all the above at site.
- Inspecting cable systems including cable hang off systems and termination of high voltage cable (HVC) and fibre optic cable (FOC) at Offshore Substations (OSS) or Foundations (FOU) location in accordance with project requirements, TRs, standards and designated inspection reporting tool.
- QA/QC inspections of termination work.
- Witnessing VLF, sheath, HVRT and OTDR testing, as well as other cable or termination test that might be required.
- Reviewing T&T-related documentations including procedures are in accordance with accepted Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS) from supplier/contractor prior to offshore/onshore T&T campaign.
- Complying with and enforcing client QHSE requirements at site.
- Preparing Daily Progress Report (DPR) to Export or Array Cable Technical Scope Manager (depending on allocated scope) and updating progress table as required by the Project.
- Preparing or ensuring approved Permit-to-Work is in place prior to T&T activities at site.
- Interfacing and ensuring effective communication with Wind Turbine Generator (WTG), Foundation (FOU), Offshore Substation (OSS), Construction/ Offshore Logistics (CONS) and Offshore Cable Installation (OCI) teams at site, where relevant.
- Preparing or adapting inspection checklists for testing activities during offshore T&T phase (incl. use of Digital Inspection Tool, DIT).
- Ensuring cable T&T activities are carried out in safe environment and in due time, including ensuring availability of calibrated test equipment at site.
- Gathering weather data and ensuring T&T activities can be carried out within acceptable weather window at site.
- Ensuring daily shift report is handed over and clearly communicated to the next inspector by end of shift.
- Responsible for Management of Change (not covered under change request), where required.
- Responsible for the punch list, handover certification, non-conformance report (NCR) management and lesson learnt in Synergi during offshore T&T phase. This includes communicating any non-conformance/damage defect notifications at site to client Project Engineer and Technical Scope Manager.
- Reviewing and accepting T&T-related as-built documentations, where required.
- Participating in internal team and external supplier’s T&T-related meetings.
We encourage profiles with fiber optical cable termination experience.
Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years offshore working experience & valid certificates to proof the Consultant is qualified to work offshore as a Jointer for 66-kV connections such as Pfisterer and TE Tyco or nkt.
- Compulsory: GWOs, Seafarers Offshore Medical, Advanced First Aid Course (full course, no refreshers), Firefighting course, Sea survival and transfer training, Climbing and Rescue at heights training (needs to be renewed every year for DE!), confined space training, Helicopter transfer.
- Desirable: HV/MV Jointing training or experience, VLF testing training or experience, OTDR testing training or experience, Safe Work in High Voltage Substation Environments and Safe Work in Low Voltage Substation Environments.
- Possesses the skills of HV/MV cable jointing/termination, cable ladder/cleating systems, subsea cable hang off systems, earthing and bonding of cable systems, CDM regulations 2015 (where relevant) and preferably experience with client IT tools/procedures.
