Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager Renewable Assets job to be based in either Bristol or London (1x day per week in the office minimum).
The Opportunity
Earth Wind & Hire is working with a forward–thinking organisation in the renewable energy space to appoint an experienced HSE Manager. This is a pivotal role supporting the safe and efficient operation of a growing portfolio of energy assets, including solar and storage. You’ll play a key part in strengthening safety culture, improving environmental performance, and ensuring compliance across operational sites and contractor activities.
The Position
This role sits at the heart of operations, partnering with technical and leadership teams to embed best–in–class health, safety, and environmental standards. You’ll take ownership of HSE strategy, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives, while acting as a key point of contact for risk and compliance matters. From incident management through to audit leadership, this is a hands–on and influential role where your expertise will directly impact operational excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Drive high standards of health, safety and environmental performance across operational assets.
- Act as a subject matter expert, advising leadership on risk, compliance and best practice.
- Lead investigations into incidents, ensuring lessons are learned and improvements embedded.
- Develop, maintain and evolve HSE systems, policies and procedures.
- Oversee contractor safety, ensuring robust compliance and accountability.
- Deliver training, workshops and coaching to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Plan and execute audits, ensuring readiness for ISO and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor environmental obligations including emissions, waste and sustainability reporting.
- Build strong relationships with regulators and ensure ongoing legal compliance.
- Analyse performance data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Support integration of new sites into operational and safety frameworks.
About You
Experience & Knowledge
- Strong background in HSE within energy, infrastructure or industrial environments.
- Experience working with recognised management systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Good understanding of UK regulatory requirements relating to HSE.
- Awareness of electrical and operational risks within energy systems (including high voltage environments).
Skills & Approach
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Practical, solutions–driven mindset with a calm approach under pressure.
- Strong organisational and analytical capabilities.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with wider teams.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (required).
- Higher–level HSE or environmental qualifications (desirable).
- Audit or training certifications advantageous.
