THERAPY TRAINEE – SYSTEMIC FAMILY PRACTICE
Early Years Alliance is recruiting a Therapy Trainee (Systemic Family Practice) as part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded Children and Young People (CYP) Psychological Training Programme – formerly CYP‑IAPT.
Recruit to Train is a government‑funded initiative that covers salary and training costs for a one‑year post, allowing services to employ trainees to support new and expanding specialist pathways to meet CYP mental health demand.
About the Role
You will be part of the CYP‑MH Parenting Team based in Lewisham, South London, working with children and young people with Conduct Disorder for part of each week. Successful candidates will also travel to Denmark Hill Campus of King’s College London for weekly teaching throughout the training year.
The role provides an opportunity to apply learning from weekly teaching into practical clinical interventions, making a direct impact on children, young people, and their families.
What are we looking for?
- Highly motivated candidates enthusiastic about improving children’s mental health through evidence‑based interventions aligned with NICE Guidelines.
- A qualification demonstrating capacity to complete postgraduate diploma level academic work and a registerable professional qualification (e.g., clinical or educational psychology, social work, counselling, mental health nursing, occupational therapy, etc.). Minimum second‑class bachelor’s degree from a UK university or equivalent overseas qualification in a relevant subject.
- If lacking a registerable professional training, at least 2 years’ experience in a CAMHS or equivalent mental health service setting with evidence of equivalence through the RPL (recognition of prior learning) process.
- A commitment to the CYP Psychological Training Programme core principles: Accessibility, Accountability, Participation, Awareness, and Evidence‑based practice, along with dedication to equity, diversity and inclusion.

The Course Team will assess academic requirements for the course during recruitment. You will be offered a KCL training place only if you secure this post and meet university training requirements.
