About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Business Development projects team as a Senior Early Years Lead.

This role will work as part of a small team to facilitate high quality Stay and Play sessions as part of Nottingham City Family Hub offer from Meadows and Hyson Green Family Hubs sites.

You will performance manage an Early Years Lead and be involved in planning and facilitating two high quality Stay and Play sessions for families with children aged 0-5 years and supporting all children to have the best start in life, while supporting child development, learning through play and working as part of an integrated team.

The successful candidate will have experience in working with families and children aged 0-5 years old, knowledge of the Family Hub offer and some experience or transferable skills in people management.

The Early Years Alliance would provide you with a comprehensive and exciting induction and training with the opportunity to learn new skills and experiences to support your professional development.

Main duties of the role

  • To deliver high quality EYFS-focused sessions for children and their families in children’s centres, outreach venues and other delivery sites including schools, as directed by the line manager, with a particular focus on the prime areas of learning
  • To line manage staff within area of responsibility, providing regular supervision and support.
  • To understand and work to the EYFS to support children’s learning and development. To ensure that the environment and activities are stimulating and promotes parental involvement and understanding of learning through play.
  • To be responsible for the day to day management of the session in line with the Alliance’s unregistered policies and procedures and EYFS welfare requirements. To ensure that the environment, including equipment offered, is clean, safe and secure and maintained to a good hygiene standard. To maintain a high level of safety during the session and to ensure that thorough risk assessments are in place in line with the Alliance’s policies and procedures.
  • To ensure that all sessions are inclusive, welcoming and are appropriately planned in relation to the stage of the children’s development.

Essential criteria

  • Possess a childcare qualification at Level 3 or above, or other relevant qualification
  • Experience of line management of a staff team and conducting 1-1 supervisions.
  • The ability to lead a team and work under own initiative.
  • Demonstrate significant experience of delivering and managing children and family sessions such as toddler group, drop-in, crèche, family learning session, nursery, pre-school or other relevant setting.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), child development and how young children learn through play, talk and discovery, both indoors and outdoors.
