Early Years Academy is recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic Nursery Deputy Manager for a nursery in Streatham, South West London (SW16).

You will work closely with the Nursery Manager to support the day-to-day running of the setting, lead and motivate the nursery team, and ensure children receive high-quality care and education.

Your Responsibilities

• Support the Nursery Manager with the daily operation and management of the nursery.
• Lead, motivate and support the early years team to deliver outstanding childcare.
• Ensure the nursery meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding, child protection, health and safety.
• Support staff development, supervision and performance management.
• Help manage staff rotas, deployment and appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
• Build strong and professional relationships with parents, carers and colleagues.
• Support the nursery’s preparation for Ofsted inspections and ongoing quality improvement.
• Promote an inclusive, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
• Take responsibility for the nursery in the Manager’s absence, as required.

Requirements

• A full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years or Childcare as a minimum.
• Previous experience in a nursery leadership role, such as Room Leader, Third in Charge or Deputy Manager.
• A strong understanding of the EYFS and early years safeguarding requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Confidence in supporting, mentoring and motivating a nursery team.
• A commitment to providing high-quality childcare and education.
• A proactive, professional and positive approach to nursery management.
• Experience supporting Ofsted inspections and holding a Designated Safeguarding Lead qualification would be advantageous.
