We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare centre. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality care and education for children, fostering a positive environment for both staff and families. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with management experience in early childhood settings to contribute to a nurturing and professional team.
Duties
- Assist the Manager in overseeing the smooth running of the nursery or childcare facility
- Support staff in delivering high standards of childcare and early childhood education
- Lead and motivate team members, ensuring effective communication and teamwork
- Supervise daily activities, including play, learning, and meal times, ensuring safety and engagement
- Organise staff rotas, monitor attendance, and support staff development programmes
- Work directly with children, providing care and educational activities tailored to their developmental needs
- Maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, providing updates on children’s progress
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and safeguarding policies and procedures
- Assist in managing administrative tasks such as record keeping, planning, and reporting
Qualifications
- Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team
- Experience working with children and understanding of early childhood development principles
- Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding policies, and health & safety standards
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are preferred
- Experience working with children with special needs is advantageous
- Valid driving licence is desirable for travelling between sites or community engagement activities
