We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare centre. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality care and education for children, fostering a positive environment for both staff and families. Duties

  • Assist the Manager in overseeing the smooth running of the nursery or childcare facility
  • Support staff in delivering high standards of childcare and early childhood education
  • Lead and motivate team members, ensuring effective communication and teamwork
  • Supervise daily activities, including play, learning, and meal times, ensuring safety and engagement
  • Organise staff rotas, monitor attendance, and support staff development programmes
  • Work directly with children, providing care and educational activities tailored to their developmental needs
  • Maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, providing updates on children’s progress
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Assist in managing administrative tasks such as record keeping, planning, and reporting

Qualifications

  • Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team
  • Experience working with children and understanding of early childhood development principles
  • Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding policies, and health & safety standards
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are preferred
  • Experience working with children with special needs is advantageous
  • Valid driving licence is desirable for travelling between sites or community engagement activities
