Position Overview
As a Credit Controller, you will play a key role in safeguarding the company’s financial health by ensuring timely and secure collection of payments, managing credit risk, and maintaining positive customer relationships to optimise cash flow and working capital. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and negotiation skills, strong attention to detail, a proactive and organised approach, confidence in IT systems (including Excel), and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You should also be professional, approachable, and able to work effectively and collaboratively with people at all levels across the business.
- Produce regular aged debt analysis reports
- Implement systems or tools to improve collections efficiency
- Work methodically through an aged debtor list and prioritise calls
- Chase due payments via telephone, maintaining professionalism while building strong customer relationships
- Manage the collection of outstanding payments from customers
- Take a proactive approach to reducing aged debt
- Monitor customer credit limits and ensure compliance
- Resolve queries quickly and professionally, often over the phone
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to support the credit control process
- Build strong relationships with customers to encourage timely payments
- Support continuous improvement of credit control processes
- Work with a diverse range of customers within the education sector
Skills & Experience Required
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Confident IT and Excel user (experience with VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables desirable but not essential)
- Previous experience in debt management and credit control
- Highly organised with a proactive, “can-do” mindset
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment and confident on the phone
