Our client is looking for a Senior Deal Manager who will be responsible for originating, structuring and executing large DB pension buy‑in and buy‑out transactions, from first engagement through to completion.

In practical terms, the role typically involves:

  • Owning end‑to‑end BPA transactions - acting as the company's commercial lead on complex buy‑ins and buy‑outs, including shaping deal strategy, timelines and pricing approach.
  • Client and adviser relationship management - working closely with trustees, sponsoring employers and lead advisers to position Aviva competitively and credibly through each stage of a transaction.
  • Deal structuring and negotiation - agreeing key commercial terms (pricing, collateral, residual risks, data requirements, contract structure) and managing trade‑offs to secure profitable business.
  • Internal coordination and governance - leading cross‑functional teams (pricing, actuarial, investments, legal, operations, risk) and steering deals through the company's internal approval processes.
  • Market engagement and origination - maintaining strong consultant and covenant adviser relationships to identify and secure new BPA opportunities.
  • Risk and profitability ownership - ensuring deals meet the company's capital, risk appetite and return requirements while remaining competitive in a crowded market.

At senior level, Deal Managers are also expected to help shape the company's BPA strategy, mentor more junior deal managers, and contribute to thought leadership and market positioning.

In short: it's a front‑office, commercially focused role sitting at the centre of the BPA engine, blending technical understanding with negotiation, judgement and relationship management.
