An established global specialty insurance organisation is seeking a Team Leader - Underwriting Services to oversee and develop a high-performing team of Underwriting Assistants. This role sits within Operations and plays a critical part in ensuring underwriting teams are supported by efficient, accurate, and compliant operational delivery. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who enjoys balancing people management with operational excellence and continuous improvement.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Leading, motivating, and developing a team of Underwriting Assistants (coaching, mentoring, performance management)
- Making sure underwriting support tasks are delivered accurately and on time, with strong controls
- Managing workload allocation, service levels, and team priorities - especially during peak periods
- Owning operational deliverables around month-end and quarter-end activities
- Working closely with underwriting teams and internal stakeholders to keep workflows smooth and aligned
- Spotting inefficiencies, proposing improvements, and helping implement better ways of working
- Supporting training, onboarding, and wider capability uplift across the operations function
- Ensuring standards are met for governance, compliance, and audit readiness
- Confident use of underwriting systems and operational MI/reporting

- Solid insurance experience within underwriting operations
- Background as an Underwriting Assistant / underwriting operations professional
- Previous team leadership / supervision experience
