We're recruiting for an Existing Business Trading Underwriter - Property & Liability to join a leading UK insurer's Leeds team, helping grow profitable business by building strong relationships with brokers and customers. You'll work within the Existing Business team delivering tailored underwriting solutions, working independently within your authority and collaborating on more complex risks when needed. Your work will directly support the insurer's strategy and customer-first approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite profitable existing business across Property and Liability within agreed guidelines, managing your own renewals portfolio and making sound technical and commercial underwriting decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong broker and customer relationships, providing technical support and resolving queries to deliver excellent customer outcomes and long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver the best customer outcomes, working independently within your authority while seeking guidance on more complex cases when appropriate.
  • Manage your own portfolio effectively, planning and prioritising your time to contribute to team success while directly supporting profitable growth and retention targets.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Property and Liability underwriting with strong technical capability and ability to work independently within delegated authority while collaborating effectively on complex risks.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with proven ability to build and maintain broker and customer relationships, provide technical support, and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of FCA and relevant regulations combined with experience working in a large, complex insurance organisation.
