We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to backfill within a BAU Infrastructure Operations support team. This is a hands-on 3rd line role focused on Windows Server operations, virtualisation and cloud (AWS/Azure), with a strong emphasis on automation and working closely with Security.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide 3rd line BAU infrastructure support and act as a key point of contact for ticket progression and resolution.
- Participate in a BAU shift rota and support operational service levels.
- Manage and maintain Windows Server environments (including lifecycle management and patching).
- Support VMware virtualisation platforms and associated tooling.
- Administer Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Deliver automation using DevOps practices and tools (Terraform, Ansible), reducing manual effort and improving consistency.
- Work closely with the Security team, including endpoint/security tooling deployments and compliance-driven change.
- Own and maintain operational runbooks/maintenance plans and ensure monitoring/alerting is effective.
- Contribute to backlog delivery and broader operational improvements while providing backfill cover.
Current projects / priorities:
- SQL Server 2017 upgrade: support planning and execution activities (infrastructure readiness, scheduling, risk/rollback support).
- Windows Server 2016 End-of-Life programme: upgrade/migration planning and delivery, including application coordination and operational handover.
- Lifecycle management: ongoing refresh/upgrade activities and documentation.
