Overview
In this leadership role you shape and strengthen the enterprise-wide risk framework for an insurer. You will oversee risk identification, assessment and monitoring across underwriting, reserving, investment and credit risk, ensuring decisions align with risk appetite. You will lead key risk activities (ORSA, internal model validation, regulatory reporting) and engage with boards, regulators and senior leaders. You will build and mentor a high-performing risk team and cultivate a strong risk culture that supports strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Shape and enhance the enterprise risk management framework across key risk areas
- Identify, assess, monitor and manage material risks in line with risk appetite
- Provide independent challenge to support robust decision-making
- Lead ORSA, internal model validation and regulatory reporting activities
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders on strategy, portfolio management, underwriting performance, reinsurance effectiveness and investment strategy
- Oversee board and executive-level risk reporting and regulator relationships
- Build, develop and mentor a team of risk professionals
- Promote a strong risk culture and regulatory compliance across the business
Key requirements
- proven track record in the insurance sector with extensive ERM experience
- deep understanding of risk management frameworks, actuarial/analytical disciplines and regulatory expectations
- strong knowledge of PRA and FCA regulations and Solvency II requirements
- ability to engage with boards, executive committees and senior leaders at strategic and technical levels
- previous people leadership experience
- actuarial qualification or significant actuarial experience is highly regarded
