The governors of South Acton Nursery School and Children’s Centre are appointing a SENCO/SEND Teacher to work alongside our specialist provision supporting children with special educational needs and supporting the mainstream classrooms. At South Acton we place the child at the centre of everything, operating a child‑led curriculum and supporting all children to achieve their full potential.
Full‑time
To start on 1st September 2026.
Responsibilities
- Role model outstanding teaching and learning in the foundation stage to children with SEND.
- Work within a team of teachers, nursery officers, and assistants.
- Deliver parent workshops to support parents with challenges such as behaviour, toilet training, school applications, etc., and deliver staff training to support inclusion across the Centre.
- Collaborate with other professionals including Speech and Language, Physiotherapy, and Occupational Therapy to deliver a high‑quality curriculum to a small group of reception‑aged children.
- Contribute to the reduction of inequalities by helping children achieve excellent academic results and lifelong learning outcomes.
- Support other Maintained Nursery Schools within the Acton Early Years Federation (Maples Nursery School and Children’s Centre).
- Line‑manage SEND teachers and staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must hold QTS and NPQSENCO or equivalent qualification, or be working towards / willing to work towards the NPQSENCO qualification.
