Salary: Grade 7 - Minimum Scale Point 23 £38,397 pa to Maximum Scale Point 25 £39,417.00 pa (Inclusive of London Weighting and Ealing Supplement Allowance)

Contract: Permanent (Subject to a 6-month probationary period)

Main Purpose of the Role

To provide an efficient, flexible, and high-quality caretaking and site management service. You will ensure that the school premises remain safe, secure, and well‑maintained for all users, including pupils, staff, visitors, and members of the local community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Management: Take day‑to‑day responsibility for the management, safety, and security of the school buildings and grounds.
  • Shift Operations: Work effectively as part of a shift‑based site management system (e.g., covering early openings, late closures, or school events).
  • Maintenance & Compliance: Ensure the premises are well‑maintained, carrying out routine safety checks and adhering to Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, and environmental policies.
  • Community Liaison: Communicate effectively, politely, and professionally with pupils, staff, parents, contractors, and members of the public.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience: Previous experience in site management, caretaking, or a relevant trade environment.
  • Technical Skills: Practical experience in building maintenance with the ability to carry out basic repairs, DIY tasks, and general cleaning duties.
  • Core Skills: Strong literacy and numeracy skills to manage site budgets, interpret compliance documentation, and communicate effectively by email. Competent ICT abilities. Effective problem‑solving skills. Capacity to work confidently under pressure.
  • Personal Attributes: Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, using sound judgement, common sense, and initiative.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Trade knowledge or qualifications in plumbing, electrical work, or carpentry.
