32.5 hours per week, term‑time only. The Edward Betham CofE Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our high‑achieving two‑form entry school in September 2026. Graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2024 and ‘Excellent’ by SIAMS in 2022, our school enjoys a strong reputation. Parents and carers are highly supportive and positive about the education their children receive. The HLTA will play a key role delivering high quality teaching and learning across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. You will report to the Deputy Headteacher and work closely with class teachers across the school. Experience of working with children with SEND would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality teaching and learning across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
  • Support class teachers in planning, preparation and delivery of agreed work and support programmes to individuals, groups or classes.
  • Lead whole‑class learning, covering planned professional activities and staff absence.
  • Apply high standards of behaviour and academic outcomes, ensuring all pupils can flourish.
  • Engage and support children in their learning using a variety of strategies.
  • Apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience in planning, preparation and delivery of educational programmes.
  • Experience in leading whole‑class learning, covering PPA and staff absence.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative working and commitment to the school’s Christian ethos.
