The Program Manager - CMO is responsible for delivering complex supply transfer projects that ensure uninterrupted, high-quality product supply to Smith & Nephew customers. The role focuses on predictable costs, on-time delivery, budget adherence, and continuous cost improvement across the Advanced Wound Management portfolio. This position operates in a highly regulated medical device environment and requires strong leadership across cross-functional and multi-site teams.
Responsibilities
- Deliver key supply transfer projects within challenging timelines, always prioritising quality and continuity of supply to customers.
- Deliver projects within approved budgets, agreed success criteria, and target product cost.
- Define, lead, and manage diverse, multifunctional project teams across S&N and key contract manufacturing partners.
- Plan, schedule, and lead regular project core team meetings and stakeholder reviews.
- Identify, forecast, and actively manage project risks and dependencies against key milestones, including development of mitigation plans.
- Ensure consistent application of best-practice project management methodologies, tools, and governance.
- Provide clear, concise project status reporting, driving timely decision-making with functional and senior leaders.
- Support compliance with GMP, validation, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promote and adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies to maintain a safe working environment.
What will you need to be successful
- Seasoned project management professional with experience leading multidisciplinary teams, preferably within the medical device or regulated manufacturing industry.
- Masters degree in Scientific or Engineering discipline.
- Project Management accreditation (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) highly desirable.
- Proven experience managing projects across multiple sites and geographic locations.
- Strong understanding of GMP, compliance, validation practices, system development, lifecycle management, and regulatory expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to plan effectively, meet deadlines, and influence stakeholders in a matrix organisation.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to facilitate decisions across large, cross-functional internal and external teams.
- Proven problem-solving capability with a creative and analytical mindset.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Effective change management capability.
- Experience managing or leading teams is desirable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
