This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior PMO to join a world-leading, globally-recognised Energy Trading & Commodities company as part of a project that will deploy a core technology solution in their Risk Management space.

Role

You will take lead of the Project Management Office (PMO) for complex, cross‑functional projects and programmes. This role ensures robust governance, discipline and delivery rhythm, aligning project execution with business objectives. It is a business‑facing role; you will need to manage stakeholder alignment and deputise for the Senior Project Manager when required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the PMO
  • Deputise for the Senior PM as needed.
  • Define and embed project governance, templates, cadence, and ways of working.
  • Implement PMO tools, templates, and control processes; maintain methodologies and standards.
  • Lead regular project health checks and manage stage gates.
  • Develop and manage detailed, resource‑based project plans and POAP.
  • Oversee cost, quality, and delivery targets; manage budgets and expenditure.
  • Drive delivery rhythm and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Facilitate workshops and alignment sessions to unblock progress and clarify priorities.
  • Support preparation of Decision Review Board (DRB) and Steering Committee (SteerCo) materials; be able to create concise, compelling presentations and narratives that enable informed decision‑making and stakeholder alignment.
  • Influence without authority to drive collaboration and decision‑making.
  • Identify issues, clarify root causes, and facilitate mitigating actions; provide rapid intervention to unblock delivery and maintain momentum.
  • Train and mentor junior team members and workstream leads on PMO tools and practices.
  • Maintain a collaborative, high‑performing team culture.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of PMO services, KPIs, and SLAs.

Skills and Experience

  • 10+ years as a senior PMO in either energy trading, commodity trading or a financial services context.
  • Proven experience in setting up and leading PMOs for large, complex multi‑workstream projects/programmes.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (or equivalent work experience).
  • Professional qualifications in project/programme management (e.g., PRINCE2, P3O) and/or change management are desirable.
  • Experience in technology programmes, operating model changes, regulatory projects, or carbon‑based change initiatives.
  • Delivery‑focused, able to drive outcomes in ambiguous, fast‑paced and complex matrix environments.
  • Extensive experience of setting up project governance, using and optimizing methodologies and tools to drive discipline while balancing practical project delivery.
  • Extensive experience in capturing and actively managing risks across the project.
  • Proven ability to plan complex projects from Level 0 to Level 5 connecting dependencies from across the enterprise.
  • Ability to set up forecasting and manage project budgets; monitor performance and ensure compliance; actively forecast resource demands and manage changes.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and influencing skills to generate strategic alignment around project objectives.
  • Skilled in facilitation, problem‑solving, and executive‑level communication.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing teams.
  • A passion for continuous improvement so that project approaches can be modified to fit the needs of each context.
  • A knowledge of structured decision‑making methodologies.
  • Consultative and persuasive, able to negotiate and drive alignment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing – able to engage, build relationships, influence without authority, and navigate pushbacks.

Flexibility is required to accommodate stakeholder interactions and project delivery commitments. Majority of T&S key stakeholders are based in a European time‑zone. There will be occasional travel required.
