Exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst – AI & Commodities Trading to join this global Energy company. This is an exciting time to join this world-leading Energy company as it evolves from a traditional Oil & Gas enterprise into a future-focused Energy leader. This transformation includes the establishment of a highly successful new Power Trading desk within the Energy Trading team and ventures into cutting-edge solutions that address the evolving demands of the Energy sector. These initiatives include advanced Gas infrastructure, LNG technology, effective Energy Storage systems and Green Energy solutions.

Role Overview

You will be a highly experienced Senior Business Analyst to support the expansion of AI-enabled products within the Products Trading organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for bridging business and technology teams, translating complex commodities trading business challenges into digital and AI-enabled solutions. This role requires a seasoned Business Analyst with strong knowledge of Commodities Trading, Products Trading, Supply & Distribution, Logistics, Risk Management, and Commercial optimisation. Experience working on AI, data, analytics, or digital transformation initiatives is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery, analysis, process modelling and requirements definition activities across multiple strategic initiatives.
  • Translate business opportunities and operational challenges into actionable functional and technical requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops with traders, schedulers, operators, commercial teams, product owners and technology teams.
  • Define user stories, business processes, capability maps, acceptance criteria and business outcomes.
  • Drive solution alignment across business, product and engineering teams.

Commodities & Products Trading Expertise (Good To Have)

  • Provide subject matter expertise and analysis across areas such as:
    • Refined Products Trading
    • Crude Trading
    • Deal Capture & Trade Lifecycle Management
    • Commercial Operations
    • Scheduling & Logistics
    • Inventory Management
    • Supply & Distribution
    • Blending & Optimisation
    • Risk & Exposure Management
    • Margin & P&L Analysis
    • Trading Analytics & Decision Support
    • Front, Middle and Back Office Processes

AI & Digital Product Enablement (Must Have)

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and Generative AI capabilities within trading and commercial workflows.
  • Work closely with AI engineers, data scientists, and developers to define and deliver AI-enabled solutions.
  • Support product discovery, MVP definition, and scaling of successful AI products.
  • Translate business use cases into requirements suitable for AI and Large Language Model (LLM) based solutions.
  • Evaluate business value and adoption opportunities for AI-enabled products.

Stakeholder Management (Must Have)

  • Partner with senior stakeholders across Trading & Supply, Products, Commercial and Technology organisations.
  • Build trusted relationships across global teams.
  • Communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences.
  • Influence decision-making and drive alignment across multiple delivery teams.

Essential Experience (Must Have)

  • Extensive Business Analysis experience within Commodities Trading or Energy Trading environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Products Trading business processes and value chains.
  • Proven experience working directly with traders, operators, schedulers, planners and commercial stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
  • Experience working within Agile product delivery environments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.

AI & Data (Must Have)

  • Experience delivering AI, Machine Learning or Advanced Analytics solutions.
  • Understanding of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Experience converting business requirements into AI use cases.
  • Familiarity with AI product lifecycles and adoption challenges.

Leadership & Mentoring (Good To Have)

  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior and mid-level Business Analysts.
  • Establish best practices for business analysis and requirements management.
  • Contribute to capability development within the BA community.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on complex business and technology initiatives.
