Exciting opportunity for a Market Risk Analyst with a strong understanding of financial, commodity and energy markets to join this World Leading Energy Trading company. This will be a contract role initially with the view to transition over to a permanent position in the long term.
Responsibilities
- The role involves working closely with the trading business to support new deals while independently assessing and reporting market risks to ensure compliance with mandated exposure and risk limits.
- It also includes executing and enhancing risk metrics and controls aligned to the trading portfolio.
Must Have
- In depth knowledge of European Energy markets, including exposure to Renewable Natural Gas.
- An understanding of the interdependencies with other asset classes, such as power, carbon and oil – and a good grasp of wider economic/geopolitical risk factors.
- Substantial experience within a trading and risk management organisation, including a strong understanding of trading, operations, risk, compliance and mid/back office business processes, policies, procedures and controls.
Independent working and engagement is required. The role requires independence from the front office, with the ability to objectively analyse and report on risks and exposures while regularly engaging with traders and management on positions taken and resultant P&L. Strong stakeholder engagement skills are essential, including the confidence to challenge traders on deals, valuations, positions, and limit mandates.
